"I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself" is a song by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

The song was first recorded by R&B singer Tommy Hunt as the title track for his 1962 album, and issued as a single (Scepter 1236, b/w "And I Never Knew.") It was produced by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, and arranged and conducted by Burt Bacharach. Two years later it was a hit for Dusty Springfield, who the song is still most associated with. In 1966, Dionne Warwick had a hit with her version in the United States. Burt Bacharach, of course, recorded a version, which can be found on The Look of Love: The Collection (UK 2001).

The song has since been covered by many artists of varied backgrounds including Elvis Costello & The Attractions, 1978; Demis Roussos, 1978; The Photos, featuring Wendy Wu, 1980; Linda Ronstadt, 1994; and Steve Tyrell, 2003.

A 2002 release of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Going To A Go-Go - Away We A Go-Go, included their version of the song (recording year unknown).

Also in 2002, the soundtrack to My Best Friend's Wedding included a version by Nicky Holland. In the film, Cameron Diaz sings the song in a karaoke scene.

In 2003, it was released as a single by The White Stripes. It was the second single from their album Elephant. The video for the White Stripes version is a black-and-white video featuring Kate Moss pole dancing erotically and was directed by Sofia Coppola.

In 2006, the song was performed and included in the soundtrack for Shout! The Mod Musical.
